PYSANKY
Pysanky is the ancient art of Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating -- a sacred and meditative practice.
Pysanky are traditionally made in spring using the wax-resist "batik" method, in which designs are drawn or written onto the egg with beeswax and then submerged in a series of colourful dyebaths. Pysanky are often very intricate and include layers of meaning imbued with symbols of protection and goodwill.
Many decorated eggs vary in techniques and styles from Slavic culture, but today many people create decorated eggs globally.
In this photo, in addition to pysanky, you can find travlenky (etched eggs), driapanky (sractched eggs), and drop-pull pysanky.
